Course Description:

During this course students will further develop Spanish langauge skills established in Basic I & II. They will learn and practice written communication skills. They will have opportunities to orally practice a wide range of concrete topics, autobiographical details, and daily routines at home, school and the work place. Students will participate in casual conversations, express facts, give instructions, describe places, people and things, report events and narrate present, past and future actions and events. They will also acquire some ability to paraphrase and will have a better command of Spanish grammar.

Performance Evaluation:

Upon request, student's progress will be evaluated through the administration of tests, midterm and final proficiency test. The tests will rate student's performance using the ILR proficiency skill level description. In order to receive a rating of 2, students must show mastery of all level 0+, 1, 1+, and 15 tasks practiced in this course. If they are performed with fluency, ease and ability to handle complex situations in a role play and use more complicated sentences in their discourse, students may earn a rating of 2+.
