Course Description:

Spanish Level II further develops the Spanish language skills established in the Basic I level. Adult learners will learn to express their own thoughts without depending on memorized responses. Their vocabulary will increase up to 1000 words. Students will possess enough communication skills to carry on conversations on familiar topics. They will be able to use full sentences. Time in each class will be dedicated to dictation, transcription exercises. Students will be able to read and write simple compositions related to the themes studied in class. Additionally cultural awareness will be integrated in the course.

  • The verbs "decir" and "dar" and the indirect object pronouns
  • The present tense of the "-go" verbs and "ver"
  • Reflexives

Performance Evaluation:

Upon request, student's progress will be evaluated through the administration of tests, midterm and final proficiency test. The tests will rate student's performance using the ILR proficiency skill level description. In order to receive a rating of 1/1+ students must show mastery of 16 tasks practiced in this course. If they are performed with fluency, ease and ability to handle situation in a role play, students may earn a rating of 1+.
